Reference and guide to SFIA version 7. Framework status: Development.

#6 Need To Factor In The Rise Of Cloud Based Computing & Provisioning and Machine Learning: change request declined

Just as in the 90, when thin and thick client provisioning was the standard IT services that shaped the IT workforce skills set. The evolution since then has not stopped and in fact ushered in virtualization, hosting, Dev-Ops to cloud computing. Hence the need to reflect the curve and bends ahead.

For Cloud Computing Skills; the logical areas for consideration for the following "conceptual SFIA 7 skills/competency are as follows;

Strategy and Architecture --> Technical Strategy and Planning

- Integrated Service Operation Planning

- Emerging Technology Assessment

Delivery and Operations-- > Service Design

- Cloud Provisioning / Computing Design ( SasS, PaaS, Service subscription )

- Integrated Service Design Management

Delivery and Operations-- > Service Operations

- Cloud Provisioning / Computing Coordination ( etc. backlog management, triage, communication, integrated incident & problem management )

With the rise of AI and Machine Learning the logical areas for consideration for the following "conceptual SFIA 7 skills/competency are as follows;

Strategy and Architecture --> Technical Strategy and Planning

- Integrated Service Operation Planning

- Emerging Technology Assessment

Development and Implementation --> System Development

- Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Design ( Analysis Translation, Directive management, Cognitive/Behavioural design etc)

- Automation Analysis ( i.e. Pattern identification, Biometic recognition, classification analysis, Binary Decision tree mapping )

 Development and Implementation --> User Experience

- Machine Learning Experience Analysis

- Machine Learning Experience Curation

- AI / RPA Coaching - ( Pattern Learning Recognition coaching, Cognitive/Behavioural Guidance,  Learning Evaluation)

What we decided

Declined.

We have reviewed the request and as it is currently written-  the change request is too broad/generic /unspecific to be accepted. .

  • To be taken forward this will need some additional work and then re-submitted as more specific change requests.
Specifically
  • The impact of AI and machine Learning is on the SFIA development roadmap for consideration after SFIA7 is formally published
  • Your other comments I believe may have been addressed by SFIA7
  • If you believe there are still gaps then can you create specific change requests - either for new skills or amended skills or suggestions for other parts of the SFIA documentation (eg the reference manual)
    • you can do this as part of the beta test of SFIA7 or for inclusion in future iterations of SFIA

For Cloud Computing Skills: some suggestions for details.
Use/configuration/creation of a Secure Management Console (such as Citrix Receiver) and an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) application to access remote servers should be listed in various skills.
Secure and auditable methods of retrieving information on the back-end (not business user front end).
