#80 Cognitive Computing and Robotics: change request pending
Welcoming our new computer overlords to SFIA
The case for integrating Cognitive Computing and robotics skills into SFIA
The emergence of Cognitive Computing and pervasive robotics in everything from self-driving cars to assistive chatbots is going to transform human society during our lifetimes in as far reaching a manner as anything the agricultural, industrial or information revolutions achieved.
Professor Stephen Hawking says it's either the best or worst thing for humanity: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/oct/19/stephen-hawking-ai-best-or-worst-thing-for-humanity-cambridge
I would prefer that we determine the outcome by taking the lead, rather than waiting to find out!
Tom Ilube (no. 1 in the UK PowerList 2017) says it will have the most profound impact on (Africa) us and are decided by algorithms that we define. Look at what the Google AI Robot says is a 'beautiful baby': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf59lrDXYHM
Right now, SFIA doesn't even know what a beautiful baby is, let alone how to define it, describe it, learn what one looks like, or understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Let's ensure the history of Cognitive Computing and robitics is kind to the human race.... by writing it! (enter SFIA).
PS. I have tagged this as an Emerging Technology Monitoring topic, but in truth its a topic so vast and all encompassing we can put all the other SFIA categories into it and still have room for the radius of AI enabled technology that will reach into space.

What we decided
Deferred. Important topic which is now on the investigation road map to be started after SFIA7.
